Building the Future of Finance in Law
Mission
We envision a world where a law firm never has to turn away a client because that client can't pay.
By adding financial flexibility at the point where lawyers and clients transact, we increase the number of people who can access the justice system and expand the addressable market for our law firm clients.
Core principles
Our core principles guide our decisions both big and small:
We believe in purpose over profit
We believe that each team member is an owner
We believe we thrive in a culture of mutual support
We believe in building for the long term
What we do
We build the most powerful embedded payments and money movement developer tools in legal.
Our platform allows legal technology companies to quickly deliver embedded payments and finance features tailored to the unique processes and rules of the legal profession.

Stephanie
Watanabe
I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, in a small town named Sequim. After finishing my undergrad at University of Washington, I spent the last 15ish years in local Credit Unions. I recently adopted a dog Daisy; she’s a 2 year old hound-mix who keeps me busy. One day, we will find truffles together and make a delicious supper.
With my experience in community-focused credit unions, I love partnering with small businesses and law firms to make their work lives a little easier. I have a passion for improving processes and diving into the unknown.
Trevor
Hanus
Trevor is one of the founding engineers at Confido Legal. As such, he wears many different hats to ensure we are building a product our users truly love. In a single day, he may function as an architect, a dev-ops engineer, UI/UX designer, and/or a full-stack developer.
He’s an autodidact who taught himself to code about 8 years ago and hasn’t been able to get away from his keyboard ever since. He usually codes in his free time working on way too many side hustles. When he does need a break, Trevor keeps his mind and body active. He’s a board game junky and is currently learning a new sport: kiteboarding!
Emery
Wager
Emery grew up in Seattle, Washington and graduated from Stanford University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He began his post-college professional career as an engineer at a medical device startup in Silicon Valley before joining the United States Marine Corps and earning a position as an infantry officer. He completed two tours to Afghanistan - one as a platoon commander and one as a company executive officer - before leaving active duty and writing a novel, How to Name a Generation.
In 2013 Emery joined the team at Gravity Payments where he was a leader in many different parts of the business from product management to marketing and business development. In 2019, he developed the concept for Confido Legal and has been focused on finding ways to help law firms succeed as businesses ever since.
Emery lives in Seattle with his wife, Leigh and two kids, Blakeley and Lyle. He enjoys pretty much any outdoor activity involving wind and snow and is currently working with a co-author on a musical about the military.
