This article shows law firm administrators how to setup credit/debit card and online bank transfer payment processing in Actionstep using Confido Legal.
Overview Video
Assumptions
- You have active Actionstep and Confido Legal accounts. To create a Confido Legal account, click here.
- You have created a standing link in Confido Legal with an open dollar amount.
Creating the Billing Email Template
- In Actionstep under Admin > Email & SMS > Email templates, create a new template.
- Under Copy from template, select Standard Billing Email.
- Under Basic options, select Billing Email and name your template.
- Customize the message as necessary.
- To create the payment button, add the desired text to the body of the email, (i.e. "Click Here to Pay").
- Then highlight the text and select the insert/edit link button.
- Add your standing link URL in the popup
- Add the following to the end of the standing link URL: ?dollarAmount=[[SP_StatementAmountDueIncludingRetainer]]&clientNotes=INVOICE-[[SP_OurReference]]-CLIENT-[[FullName|pt=Sp__theirname]]
- The above syntax will prepopulate the standing link with the amount due and the invoice number/client name in the notes field. This helps ensure that the client pays the correct amount and that the invoice number and client name come through with the payment for easier posting. Feel free to make edits to the syntax above to change what data comes through with the payment.
- A client may edit the amount due if they would like to pay another amount.
